September 16, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Mark Irwin will show and narrate train video footage taken by photographer, Jim Bradley in the early 1960s.
Let’s Go railroading with noted photographer, Jim Bradley, a native of Mt Holly Springs, PA! Jim made several films of trains in the early 1960s. The subjects of his films were the Reading Railroad Iron Horse Rambles at Gettysburg, Carlisle Junction, Hershey, Port Clinton, and West Milton, PA. Several steam-powered short lines were also in his films, including the East Broad Top Railroad, the Virginia Blue Ridge Railroad, and the Graham County Railroad. Diesel-powered freight trains at Carlisle Junction are featured including those of the Reading, Western Maryland, and Pennsylvania Railroads. The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad at Harper’s Ferry, WV is also in this film. This is a composite of nine of his films. It is a truly exceptional view of early 1960s railroading in the Cumberland Valley.
