Murder in the Courthouse: 63 Years Ago
August 17, 2018 @ 2:45 pm - 4:30 pm
SOLD OUT
On August 2, 1955, Percy S. Haines went on a shooting rampage in a Cumberland County courtroom when Judge Mark E. Garber ordered him to pay $50 a month in support to his wife during a domestic dispute case. Haines objected rather violently, pulling out a .22 handgun and opening fire, killing Attorney John D. Faller and injuring three others. We will meet at the Cumberland County Historical Society and walk to the old courthouse. Ron Turo will give us some insight to this terrible act of violence and then proceed into the courtroom for the reenactment.
Cost: $8/member; $12/nonmember; $5/school-age-children
